Like many companies they pay you as little as possible and pile as much work on you as they can, employee turnover is endless among sales people, trainers and desk staff ( I was there for two years and couldn't keep track of the number of people in all areas that came and went within months, so you'd think they'd identify a problem). As a health club it's really nice but as a company it's the worst I've seen (and I've worked in a few different industries). I had friends who had previously worked for this company so kind of knew it wasn't a good company to work for, but needed employment so went forward with working there for a couple years. The reality of the job often falls short of the expectations set during the initial phases of employment. If you have a sincere love for fitness and helping others, I would caution against pursuing a career at Equinox based on my experiences. Moreover, the job's initial allure quickly faded, revealing an erratic schedule that made work-life balance nearly impossible. ![]() This approach clashed with my passion for fitness and genuine client support. Weekly meetings seemed to revolve around strategies to manipulate clients into purchasing expensive training packages rather than genuinely helping them achieve their fitness goals. The management environment was not only abusive but also toxic, fostering an atmosphere that did not prioritize the well-being of employees. The focus was solely on driving sales, and any deviation from that goal resulted in unnecessary disciplinary actions. ![]() In my experience working at Equinox as a personal trainer, I found it to be misleading and far from what I expected.
